Andreina Rodriguez, a three-time NYC Wrestling Champion, decided mid-season of her senior year to opt out of competing, despite league forecasts of winning another city title. Although she started the season with high hopes, as Andreina began to prepare for college interviews, the time commitment required of a student athlete at Grover Cleveland High School became too much. Much to the frustration of her coach, she was often listed as a no-show at local meets. If she had competed and won, she would have been the first New York City four-time Girls Champion.
Although Andreina expressed some disappointment about not wrestling her senior year, she seemed excited about attending college at BMCC in the fall. BMCC does not have a wrestling team.
