Laurel is the co-founder of We Are the Youth, a photojournalism project that shares the stories of LGBTQ+ youth in the UNITED STATES.

Laurel has been selected for American Photography 41 and 42 for her TIME photo essay, documenting Cecilia Gentili’s funeral, as well as for her coverage of Zohran Mamdani, commissioned by NBC. Laurel was awarded the PDN30, given annually to 30 photographers worldwide.
