Dr. Meghan Bishop, an orthopedic surgeon, qualified for the Olympic Trials marathon, along with over 450 other women. The number of female qualifiers has almost doubled since the last Trails and as the numbers increase, the field grows more diverse - teachers, doctors, mothers, first time marathon runners, at least one athlete is still in high school and about 1 in 5 are over the age of 35. I had the pleasure of following Dr. Bishop for the day as she balanced work and training the week before the Olympic Trials.
